■Judges' comments As they tout luxury, this is a high-quality beauty product. The fragrance is wonderfully designed. Even though it is a mist, it does have a definite moisturizing effect. As a company, their efforts in upcycling and regional revitalization are highly commendable. Hirohiro Sakurai (Director of INFAS Publications Inc.) |

About the Sustainable Cosmetics Awards
This is the first and only award in Japan to recognize "cosmetics that are kind to both people and the earth" that establishes evaluation and screening criteria from the perspective of SDGs in the cosmetics and fine toiletries fields.
The awards were started by volunteer ambassadors for the Ministry of the Environment's "Connect and Support Forests, Villages, Rivers, and Seas Project," and invited experts from a wide range of fields, including the environment, media, and cosmetics, to serve as judges. At the same time, students engaged in environmental activities were appointed as secretariat staff and judges. The awards were launched in 2019 as a multifaceted, neutral, and fair awards. Based on evaluation criteria based on the SDGs perspective, the awards promote the sustainability of cosmetics by evaluating, judging, and awarding products throughout their entire life cycle, including ingredients, raw material production, manufacturing, sales, distribution, consumption, and disposal.

Our brand only just launched in November of last year, but we entered the awards before our launch.
We asked the Sustainable Cosmetics Awards Secretariat if they could evaluate our sustainable efforts, including manufacturing and packaging, as well as the moisturizing and soothing effects of DF Moisturizing Mist before it goes on sale, and they gave us permission, saying, "That's fine! Please enter!"

This time, we won the "Upcycling" category.
It contains cellulose nanofiber (CNF), a fiber extracted from unused bamboo, and saffron flower extract, made from recycled saffron flowers that would otherwise be discarded during the spice production process.
This is an upcycled ingredient made from materials that would otherwise be unused or discarded, and has been adapted to function as an ingredient by discovering its moisturizing effects that lock in moisture in the skin and prevent skin irritation.
Both are domestically grown in the Kyushu region, delivering the bounty of Japan to your skin.
What's more, to ensure that you can experience high moisturizing power even though it's just a mist, it contains four types of plant-derived ceramides, fermented hyaluronic acid, isomerized sugar, and phytosterols that replenish the skin's moisturizing factors.
The Sustainable Cosmetics Awards ceremony

The judges, who are deeply involved in the cosmetics industry and environmental issues, including head judge Kishi Beniko, editor-in-chief of FRAU magazine, director of WWD and INFAS Publications, founder of Cosme Kitchen, and Ministry of the Environment Mori Sato Kawa Umi Ambassador, provided strict judgments.
This year's Sustainable Cosmetics Award also included a brand owned by a celebrity!
Kiko Mizuhara's brand "KIIKS" solves environmental problems in various regions of Japan and uses carefully selected natural materials from each region.
The award-winning "Bamboo Water Mist" has synergy with cellulose nanofiber extracted from our bamboo! "We're bamboo friends now!" We had a photo taken with them.
Kiko Mizuhara was such a beautiful and wonderful person, I became a fan!
And the cosmetics of former AKB member Mariko Shinoda also won an award! She is from Itoshima in Fukuoka Prefecture and her products are manufactured in a local factory. I've been to Itoshima, and a friend of mine lives there! It's a wonderful town!
The person in the middle photo is the representative of Ecomaat. The winner was our Lavian Rose Aroma Tonic, which uses organic Bulgarian rose. She was a lovely woman who spoke fluent Japanese.
The person on the right is Mr. Hirohiro Sakurai (Director of INFAS Publications Co., Ltd.). He is the director of a trade magazine company called WWD. I really like this magazine, so I'm happy to have been able to take a photo with him!

This time, I participated in the Sustainable Cosmetics Awards ceremony.
The award ceremony made our strengths and weaknesses even clearer. It was an opportunity to learn a lot. Not only did we learn about each company's thorough efforts, manufacturing techniques, and ingredient formulations, but most of the people who gathered were founders of their products. I was deeply moved by how serious everyone was.
Kiko Mizuhara's "Bamboo Water" and our company's "Bamboo Fiber". There are many abandoned forests in Japan. Of course, I didn't know that until I started making my own cosmetics.
Bamboo forests, which were once planted, cultivated, and then abandoned by humans, have become mixed forests and bamboo thickets, encroaching on the rich broadleaf forests. This can cause the ground on the mountains to collapse, and can even lead to landslides.
We will continue to incorporate cellulose nanofiber (CNF) extracted from domestically grown bamboo into our products to not only beautify your skin, but also contribute to protecting Japan's forests.
